Ferndown u3a was founded in 1997 and is part of a nationwide movement that promotes lifelong learning. Currently there are over 600 members, from Ferndown, West Moors and the surrounding areas.

It is a voluntary organisation for retired and semi-retired people to meet together and learn new skills. Social events and visits are also arranged – study tours of Italy, Spain and Netherlands are among visits organised as well as day trips.

Anyone can join if they are able to attend groups which run during the day. Most of our members are semi-retired or retired, but there is no age limit.
Members have very varied experiences and acquire diverse skills during their lives and some are able to share these by offering educational, creative and leisure activities. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal.

The Term University of the Third Age can be off putting. We are not a University and there are no exams! We are about learning, laughing and living.

Groups are run by members for members and everyone is a volunteer. Currently we offer 97 groups catering for a wide variety of interests. By clicking on our Brochure page you can view and read in more detail what's on offer.
