What a wonderful day out. The Castle tour did not disappoint. We visited the State Apartments that are used today by the Royal Family, the historical rooms that were built for Charles II and private apartments created for George IV.  

There were many famous, must-see moments within these spectacular rooms, like the colossal Waterloo Chamber, magnificent Crimson Drawing Room and impressive Grand Staircase. With so much royal history and splendour it was possible to walk straight past some amazing treasures, but the wonderful multimedia guide kept us on track!

Another highlight was Queen Mary's Doll's House, the largest and most famous dolls' house in the world. Built between 1921 and 1924 for Queen Mary by the leading British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, it contains works from over 1,500 of the finest artists, craftspeople and manufacturers of the early 20th century.

St Georges Chapel was a stunning but also a wonderfully calm moment in our busy day. Passing the late Queen Elizabeth’s tomb added some quiet reflective moments.

Some of us spent the entire time viewing the castle and ground whilst other managed to walk over to Eton, view the college and High Street.
